Workshops

From the personal to the global – devising theatre

Sharing her practice as a theatre maker, an Associate Artist with Improbable and Chris Goode & Co, and a frequent collaborator with Coney, this masterclass will examine how acclaimed artist Angela Clerkin uses autobiographical material to create personal tales with global consequences. Participants will take part in practical exercises which include improvisational techniques, visual stimuli and freewriting, all of which Angela uses when creating a show.

“I took part in Angela’s workshop for Theatre Makers at the Traverse theatre. It was perfectly pitched to the people in the room and responsive to our questions and interests. The workshop gave us a fascinating insight into Angela’s devising process. Open, honest and warm, the session was packed with practical exercises and discussion, useful for theatre makers from all disciplines. I would highly recommend.” Lucy Skilbeck, Director

Angela has worked with a whole range of companies including Lyric Hammersmith, BAC, Young Vic and Traverse Theatre. She is the founder of ClerkinWorks Theatre.
